the future of manufacturing?

Here’s an article about the use of cheap 3D printing technology to produce a car body, or at least the “buck” for a car body. Manufacturers are already seeing benefits from reduced tooling costs of 3D printing (they’ve been pioneers of the tech for many years) but now we could all be prototyping cars at home perhaps?

man prints an Aston Martin!

Incidentally there are no legal problems with this, in theory, because the vehicle design is over 25 years old. Unless Aston have re-applied for (bought) design copyright on the shape, this guy will be safe. He can’t however use any Aston badges as those are of course trademarked.
